GPU's and benchmarks are a hard thing to get right. There's raw compute data to consider but also real world application. I would greatly suggest to take these benchmarks with a grain of salt and do some research for the types of games you want to be playing and factor that in with a budget. Certain games can performe very well with a brand and model of video card and poorly with a more expensive card.
GTX 950 vs R7 370
Between the two, I'd say the 950 offers a better value at the starter end. Slightly better performance as well as the cleaner driver updates. That feature is nice for people just starting out with custom computers. 1080p low-Medium 30-45FPS
GTX 960 vs R9 380
Both of these GPU's are great choices. I personally would pick the 380 as its a bit strong in most games. However you do have the Nvidia advantages making a good argument for the 960. There isn't a better or worse option here. Make sure you find the 4GB edition of either card and buy that version. It'll keep the card relivent for longer. 1080p Medium-High 45-60FPS
GTX 970 vs R9 390
These video cards cause a lot of heated debates among enthusiests. Not to get too into the issue, the GTX 970 was part of a small controversy a year ago. The video card was advertised as having 4GB of video memory but actually only has 3.5GB of usable memory. The 390 has a heafty 8GB of video memory. Completely overkill by today's standards, it seems like its mostly bragging rights for AMD. The 970 has enough for any 1080p game out today. But if you're planning on playing at 1440p or higher? Then the 390 is the clear winner as its slightly more powerful anyway. Again... the match up is a very close one and a bad desicion isn't possible here. 1080p High 60FPS+
GTX 980 vs R9 Fury
This is a pretty easy one I think. Two great GPU's, the 980 is the option I'd likely go with. Keep in mind the Fury can be found for around $400 at times though. Making it the wiser choice when $500 is a little too much. 1080p Very high 60FPS+
GTX 980 Ti vs R9 Fury X
This is likely the most fun section. Playing games at roughly x6 the quality and resolution of a console is an amazing experience. This is a battle of the titans and a clear winner isn't quite possible. If you're gaming at 1080-1440p the 980Ti is the slight winner. But at higher resolutions the Fury X is unbeatable. Again, neither card is a bad choice and whatever you choose, you'll have the most current state of the art video card on the market for that brand (mostly and as of 5/2016).
