Height Males: 30-34 inches; Females: 28-32 inches
Weight Males: 120-200 pounds; Females: 100-130 pounds
Health Problems Great Danes are not long living breeds. Be sure that you buy your Dane from a conscientious breeder.
Great Danes are prone to bloat, tumors, heart disease, hip dysplasia and tail injuries. Make sure not to
jog with this breed until it is at least one year old.
Temperaments Danes are playful and patient with children. They love everyone and need to be around people. The
Great Danes does not bark much adn only becomes aggressive when the circumstances require it. They are
responsible, dependable, brave and loyal; it is a good watch dog. Make sure to tach your Dane not to lean
against people, especially children.
Living Conditions Great Danes will do okay in apartments if it is sufficiently exercised. Indoors, it is relatively
inactive and they will do best with at least a large yard.
Exercise Great Danes need plenty of exercise. They need to be taken on a long daily walk.
Life Expectancy The average is under 10 years, but some can live 12 to 13 years.
