Everything just sort of happened in the Beatles. We didn't really ever plan anything. John had a group before the Beatles and, through a freind of mine, I happened to meet him. I knew George at school, and I happened to intorduce him. It all just fell in.

If I went away and wrote a song, it was daft sitting around and waiting for the other to help come up with ideas. It was a lot easier to complete it on my own. So if I got stock coming up with the middle eight bars of a song I was writing,I'd give it to John and ask for ideas and he'd finish it off for me. A real fifty - fifty arrangement. That's what happened with a lot of our songs.
