The Katana was the main weapon of the Samurai and was very deadly. The Samurai would use this long, slim blade to decimate his enemies while staying out of reach of their shortswords. The Katana was always kept very sharp and in turn would easily slice through the enemys armour at some places and could even be used to cut through the enemys sword. It was the longest blade that the Samurai had so these swords were used mainly in open combat and was useful when fighting more than one enemy at a time as it could be swung in a sweeping motion to fend off several people at the same time.
