A New Way to Look at Magick
An early experimented perpetual motion machine. And a joke idea for one too. |
It seems rather odd to talk about magick seriously and keep a straight face. Even if you are a practitioner of magick. That term has been so ridiculously used for so many years that it has practically lost its point. Aleister Crowley said it best:
"Magick is the science and art of causing change to occur in conformity to will."But the most difficult question any practitioner has to answer is this:
"How?"Well for all those out there who need something to say to this I hope this might help and open someone up to a possibility. This can start by bringing up the idea of perpetual motion. Perpetual motion is an impossible idea because it breaks laws of science and mathematics. It is an ideal of getting more energy out of something than you put in it in the first place. Pretty much a way of saying (A + A) = (2A + 1). It just doesn't work.
Now another thing I would like you to think about is that the human brain is nothing more than an overpowered, very complex, bio-electrical computer. It stores, transfers, and relays information to other parts of the brain and body. Though the components are different they do pretty much the same processes.
Well there is something out there that, at least mathematically speaking, breaks the boundaries on perpetual motion theory. You see, there is one thing that the human brain does that no computer would ever be able to do. And that is create. A computer cannot be taught to invent something. Because the only thing it would invent is exactly what you "step by step" taught it to create. Yet we do it all the time. And you can't teach a person to invent either. It is something that we naturally do.
But how do we take something from nothing and end up with more than what we started with? Every living thing has the ability to do more than what it was basically made to do. Well I would hope that you would still agree that it is impossible to get more out of something than was put into it. So instead of saying that our brain does something impossible... What we should say is that there is something about us that we do not know. That there is an outside force that adds some sort of influence to us that we don't seem to recognize. And maybe everything living shares this same thing. This same force. And magic is this force and some peoples practice of influencing it...
