By the end of the nineties Hollywood had finally begun to play around with
Hong Kong style techniques in its action films. Films like 'Face/Off' and 'Replacement Killers' enjoyed a
certain amount of success but 'The Matrix' blew the whole thing wide open. Yuen Woo Ping's expert crafting of the
action scenes gave western audiences something they'd never seen before and they went wild for it. And just in case
anybody thought it was a fluke the same thing happened again when 'Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon' was finally released
in the west. Suddenly Hong Kong stunt crews seemed to be everywhere and are still continuing to influence the latest movies
and tv shows. Surely in the world of action movies there's been no-one more influential in the last five years than Yuen Woo Ping.
