Enjoy the beauties and the benefits of nature, fill your life with herbs

Fragrant herbs, grown in the home or out in the garden, will be enjoyed by all who pass by them. Your live herbs will enhance the aroma of any room, or bring wonderful fragrances to any garden. When planning your herb garden, consider which herb fragrances you enjoy most.If you want your garden to be a place of serenity and peace, try planting herbs such as Chamomile or Lavender, which are said to bring relaxing effects. If you want your garden to feel invigorating, plant herbs such as Bergamot or Thyme, known for their rejuvenating effects.

Fragrant herbs can be dried to make potpourri, be used in sachets, and even added to your bath to encourage relaxation.

To make your own potpourri, choose flowers and herbs that hold their scent well when dried. Some herbs that hold their scent well are Chamomile, Honeysuckle, Jasmine, and Sweet Pea. Some of these herbs will not tolerate Minnesota weather; just grow them indoors and enjoy the fragrances throughout your home.

Make your own sachets by filling cloth bags with crushed potpourri. Hang your sachets inside closets to freshen your clothes and your linens. Sachets can also be as air fresheners in the car.
