Cancun's Culture
The people of Mexico and the locals around Cancun are very festive individuals. Many of their traditions and culture date back to the time of the Mayans. They have many celebrations throughout the year but the major National holidays include New Year's Day on January 1st, Constitution Day on February 5th, the birthday of Benito Juarez on March 21st, The Holy Week Celebrations which includes Good Friday and Easter Sunday varies between March and April each year, Labor Day on May 1st, Cinco de Mayo on May 5th, Mother's day on May 10th, Independence Day on September 16th, Dia de la Raza on October 12th, Presidents State of the Nation Address on October 12th, Dia de los Muertos on November 2nd and 3rd, the Anniversary of the Mexican Revolution on November 20th, and Christmas week celebrations from December 25th to January 2nd.

Siestas is a lond standing tradition of the Mexican people. It has become customary to close shops and businesses in the mid afternoon. This is done simply to beat the mid day heat.
