The average cow will eat 2% of her body weight in dry matter per day. This averages out to about 60 pounds of dry
matter per day per cow. Multiply the 60 pounds times the 45 cows in our herd and that averages out to 2700 pounds of dry
matter each day in order to get them to milk.
