The body of the Mazda RX-7 is similar to most cars that Japan has come up with. It had a long nose, and the driver and passenger sat closeer to the rear axle. Why most Japanese cars of the time had the same concept? I have no idea, but I think it looks really cool. The Nissan 240SX had a similar body, the Mazda Miata / Mazda MX-5 had a similar body, but I love all of them so I don't care. As you can see in the table below, all these cars have a similar body style.
