Fabric required for Around the World
- 5 1/2 yds. of navy solid
- 3 3/8 yds. of dark burgundy solid
- 1/2 yd. each of rust, dark purple, teal, green, cream,dark burgundy, burgundy, pink, black, navy,
light purple, brown, and purple solids.
- 8 3/4 yds.for backing
- 1 yd. for binding.
- Batting to measure 120" X 120"

- Cutting out the pieces
- From the navy solid
- Cut 2 lengthwise top/bottom middle borders 13" X 87"
- Cut 2 lengthwise side middle borders 13" X 94"
- From the dark burgundy solid
- Cut 2 lengthwise side outer borders 2 3/4" X 112"
- Cut 2 lengthwise top/bottom outer borders 2 3/4" X 99"
- Cut 2 lengthwise side inner borders 2 3/4" X 83"
- Cut 2 lengthwise top/bottom inner borders 2 3/4" X 69"
- From rust, dark purple, teal, green, cream,dark burgundy, burgundy, pink, black, navy,
light purple, brown, and purple solids.
- Cut 5 strips 2 3/4" wide from each fabric.
- Assembling the quilt top
- Sew 1 strip of each color together in color order listed below to make strip set. Make 5 strip sets.

light purple, brown, and purple solids.
- With the right sides together and matching long raw edges, sew final lengthwise seam of 1 strip set
to form a tube. Repeat with the remaining strip sets.
- referring to fig. 2, cut across strip sets at 2 3/4" intervals to make 75 circular strip units.
- Refer to the Quarter section diagrams to determine which color square to place at the top of each strip unit (Fig. 3).
Working from left to right on a flat surface, carefully arrange Strip units in correct order. Sew Strip units together to
make 2 quarter section A's and 2 Quarter section B's.
- Referring to Unit 2 diagram, remove seams to separate 4-square section from 1 Strip Unit to make Unit 2. Make 2 Unit 2's
- Sew 1 Unit 1 and 1Unit 2 together to make Unit 3. Make 2 Unit 3's
- Remove seams to separate 1 brown square from 1 Strip Unit to make center square.
- Referring to Assembly Diagram, sew Quarter Section A's, Quarter Section B's, Unit 1's, Unit 3's and center square together
to make center section of quilt top.
- Add the borders to complete the top.
- Completing the Quilt
- Assemble the backing
- Pin the quilt top batting and backing together and quilt.
