The Hogwarts school motto
Draco Dormiens Nunquam Titillandus
" Never Tickle a Sleeping Dragon"
When the students arrive at Hogwarts thier first year, they travel from the train station in Hogsmeade to the castle by means of a fleet of small boats,
led by the grounds keeper Hagrid.
They are brought into the Entrance Hall, where they are met by Professor McGonagall, who explains the house system.
They are told that the start-of-term banquet will begin shortly, but before they can take their seats in the Great Hall they will need to be sorted into their houses.
They are told that their house will be something like their family will they are at Hogwarts. They are told that each house has its own noble history and each has produced outstanding witches and wizards.
While the students are at Hogwarts their triumphs earn them points for their house and the house with the most points is awared the house cup at the end of the year which is a great honor.
Then the ceremony begin and they are all sorted out into their houses. They are sorted into their houses by placing the Sorting Hat onto their heads on the Hat decides which house they should belong to.
There are four Houses Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw, and Hufflepuff. Each house has a common room and dormitories where the students sleep and spend their free
time. Students do their studying and spend their free time in their common room when they aren't in the library. The common rooms have comfortable chairs and assorted tables for
student to do their homework on and to play games on such as Wizard's Chess. Each common room also has a large fireplace. Each student is also alowed to have a pet
with them at school.
Hogwarts is hidden from Muggle eyes. The castle is bewitched so that if a Muggle look at it, all they see is a crumbling ruins with a sign over the entrance that reads
DANGER DO NOT ENTER, UNSAFE.
The Castle is a seven story structure that has a mix of different towers all build at different times. A structure like this could only be built by wizards because a structure must be supported by magic.
