The Badlands is a very pretty place to visit. It is located in southwestern South Dakota,
Badlands National Park consists of 244,000 acres of sharply eroded buttes, pinnacles
and spires blended with the largest, protected mixed grass prairie in the United States.
Facts about the Badlands:
- Established as Badlands National Monument in 1939.
- Badlands National Park contains the world's richest fossil beds, dating 23 to 35 million years old.
- Black-footed ferrets, bison, prairie dogs, rattle snakes, and bighorn sheep surround the badlands.
- 75 million years ago the badlands was all prairie land.
- There is a 30 mile loop drive that takes you around the badlands.
