Heres a quick bio of Oded Fehr.
The huge box-office success of “The Mummy
Returns” propelled Oded Fehr (who played Ardeth
Bay) into mainstream Hollywood. This 30-year-old
actor came back for a lead role in “The Mummy
Returns” sequel which grossed $70.1 million in its
first weekend.
“The Mummy” was Fehr’s first screen role. His
performance encouraged People magazine to name
him 1999’s “Sexiest Import,” and left an impression
on audiences and critics alike. Even director Steven
Sommers became such a fan that instead of killing
off Ardeth Bay in the first film -- as originally planned
-- Sommers let him live and brought him back for a
more prominent role in the sequel.
In December 1999, Fehr was seen in Disney’s pop
hit “Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo,” in which he played
an Italian ladies man, and starred alongside Rob
Schneider.
Fehr was born in Tel Aviv, Israel, to European
parents. He was educated there until he joined the
Israeli Navy at 18 for three years. When his national
service duty was over, he went to Europe to pursue a
business career. There, he first discovered acting,
and subsequently trained at the famed Bristol Old Vic
Theatre School in England.
Fehr went on to appear as Don Juan in a production
of “Don Juan Comes Back from War” at the
Courtyard Theatre in London. He has also appeared
in both “The Knock” and “Killer Net” on British
television, and appeared in the miniseries
“Cleopatra” and “Arabian Nights.”
In his spare time, Fehr enjoys attending the theater,
literature, and riding horses. He and his wife,
Rhonda, reside in Los Angeles. His birthday is
November 23.
