The chassis on the Mazda RX-7 was a 2 door coupe, made of mostly of aluminum and steel to keep the car light. The curb weight of the car was approximately 1,300 pounds. The car made 252 - 276 horsepower, which is not a lot, so the tried to keep the car as light as possible to make sure the car was quick.
