Since the 1600's, 90 percent of the United States' indigenous forests have been removed. The World Resources institute estimates that all or most of the World's remaining indigenous forest is only about 22 percent of its original amount. This little remaining amount is mostly located in Canada, Russia, Alaska, and the Northwestern Amazom basin. North America is home to different kinds of forests, including the tropical rainforest in the Caribbean National Forest and the temperate rainforest found in the Tongass Chugach, and Olymoc national forests.
