Basics of Crafting

This will be a basic lesson of how to make a basic fire poker with an intresting handle.
First pick your fuel, coal or charcoal. Next place a rod of mild steel into the center of the coals called
the duck's nest where the fire is hottest wait till about 6 inchs of the tip are cherry red then bend
It over the anvil with taps from a cross peen hammer after its bent at about a 90 deg angle let it cool
(note quenching is only used with high carbon steel and only when you wish to temper it.) After the metal
has cooled you place the opposite end into the duck's nest wait till about six inches are cherry red then
place into a leg vice then twist.
